Welcome from Jo Heaton, Chief Executive Officer 

We support our schools to shine stronger together and our school communities to remain distinctive, relevant and enriching for everyone’s benefit. 

Our values of community, pride, support and integrity, together with the voice of the child, are the foundations of our Trust. It is our mission to ensure these values are embedded into everyday life, underpinned by Christian faith in our Church schools. We uphold our values with every decision we make. 

Children and young people are at the heart of everything we do.

I feel honoured and privileged to be the leader of Northern Lights. It is our intent that pupils, students, schools, families and communities will enjoy the best opportunities and outcomes from our collective endeavours.

We believe we are stronger together and we are proud to have a DfE Teaching school Hub and a DfE Stronger Practice Early Years Hub in our Trust, because they serve to emphasise our ethos and culture of support.

We support our schools to be the best they can be, with a real commitment to all children and young people, including schools who serve some of the most disadvantaged and vulnerable communities, as well as schools who require significant improvement. We work with drive, passion and energy, with a relational approach to collaborative working, all in our Northern Lights’ way.

We are proud of everyone in Northern Lights and all that they achieve and we do this through integrity. We understand the need for the greater good. Our legacy will be that all the pupils, students, schools and communities we encounter and can influence, will thrive and be forward-thinking. 

We operate on a culture of respect. I am mindful of the quote from Maya Angelou: “People will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel.” This, too, is our aspiration.
