Education leaders receive Royal thanks at Buckingham Palace garden party

Two education leaders from Northern Lights attended a garden party at Buckingham Palace, hosted by the King and Queen, to recognise and celebrate contributions made by individuals in the sector.
Emma Whelam-Tate is Director of the Northern Lights Early Years Stronger Practice Hub and is also part of the DfE Early Years workforce policy working group, which provides advice and recommendations to the highest levels of government.
Emma leads Early Years at the Trust and ensures the Early Years provision is excellent across its schools. The DfE recognised Emma’s contribution to Early Years in nominating her for this invitation. She took the trip to London with colleague Katy Hill, Executive Director of Education at Northern Lights.
“I feel incredibly proud, privileged and humbled to have been invited,” said Emma. “Under beautiful sunny skies, in the presence of the King and Queen, with the stirring notes of the national anthem and brass bands filling the air, it was an unforgettable afternoon of elegance, tradition, and joy.”
The garden party was a heartfelt tribute to education leaders – a moment of royal recognition and celebration that will be long remembered by all who attended.
Katy Hill said: “What made it even more special was how Their Majesties took the time to stop and chat.”
Jo Heaton OBE, Chief Executive of Northern Lights, said: “I am delighted that Emma and Katy were able to attend, recognising their hard work and dedication. Northern Lights is very proud of them.”
