About Us

We are an enthusiastic, forward-thinking multi-academy trust, with a wide range of experience and determined to provide the best for our pupils and students. We currently comprise five primaries and two secondaries across Sunderland and Hartlepool.

We are a designated Teaching School Hub, one of the centres of excellence identified by the Department for Education to lead the “golden thread” of teacher development from Initial Teaching Training, Appropriate Body, NPQs and CPD across Sunderland, South Tyneside, Gateshead and partners across the North East.

We are also a designated sponsor Trust and we work to support other schools and work across the system as NLE and SLEs. We believe that development of all our staff is key to the high achievement of our schools and have a Trust school improvement strategy to support our mission.

We work closely with a wide range of partners and have a clear voice about the future of education at regional and national level.

As a Church of England MAT, Northen Lights Learning Trust work together to ensure that young people and adults are given the opportunities and support to flourish. We celebrate the diversity that exists within our Trust and value that each of our individual school families are as unique as the communities they serve.

We believe in providing our core purpose of education for all children and young people through our Trust values, for the common good of all of our communities. We respect the individuality of our schools and believe that our schools are best placed to meet the needs of their school communities, including following their own curriculum and school values and based on individual context.

We are all committed to supporting each other to ensure all our children can have fullness of life where all things are possible. Children and young people are at the heart of everything we do.
