Tilery Primary becomes 12th school in Northern Lights

Tilery Primary School in Stockton on Tees has joined Northern Lights Learning Trust.

Northern Lights is a multi-academy trust now comprising 12 primary and secondary schools, community and Church of England schools in an area stretching from Teesside to Wearside including Ian Ramsey CE Academy in Stockton, and with over 4,600 pupils across the Trust.

“We are excited for this next chapter for our school,” said Judy Stanyard, Headteacher at Tilery Primary School.

“We feel Tilery can continue to grow, learn and share our areas of excellence to become the best school we can be. We believe that the Northern Lights’ mantra of ‘Shining Stronger Together’ would enable our pupils to access more opportunities which can support not only academic success, but also successes within a wider community.”

Jo Heaton OBE, Chief Executive of Northern Lights, welcomed Tilery Primary School into the Trust, which also comprises the DfE Northern Lights Teaching School Hub as well as the DfE Early Years Hub North East. “Our mission is to ensure everyone flourishes, with children and young people at the heart of everything that we do,” said Mrs Heaton.

Later this month, on 19 March, children from Tilery Primary School will join with other schools in Northern Lights to present “One Voice,” an annual concert being performed for parents at Stockton’s Globe Theatre.

Firthmoor Primary School in Darlington joined the Trust in January. Other primary schools in Northern Lights are Benedict Biscop CE Academy, Sunderland; Dame Dorothy Primary School, Sunderland; Grange Primary School, Hartlepool; Hart Primary School, Hartlepool; Holley Park Academy, Washington; St Helen’s Primary School, Hartlepool; and St Peter’s Elwick CE Primary School, Hartlepool. Their three secondaries are St Aidan’s CE Academy, Darlington; Ian Ramsey CE Academy, Stockton-on-Tees; and Venerable Bede CE Academy, Sunderland.
