Laura has over 20 years of experience in education, beginning her teaching career in North Tyneside. Following her PGCE in Primary Languages, she worked as part of North Tyneside’s School Improvement Service, supporting primary schools to develop the teaching and curriculum of French. She went on to hold senior leadership roles as an Assistant Headteacher and Deputy Headteacher, where she developed particular expertise in the leadership of mathematics.
In 2014, Laura began working with the Great North Maths Hub. Over the following five years, her role developed significantly, leading to her appointment in 2019 as the strategic lead for the Maths Hub — a role she held for five years. She is an NCETM-accredited Professional Development Lead and continues to contribute to the design and delivery of programmes that accredit colleagues as Maths School Development Leads, supporting system-wide improvement in mathematics education.
Laura joined Northern Lights Learning Trust in 2025 as Deputy Head of School at Grange Primary School and Trust Lead for Maths, working with colleagues across the Trust to strengthen the quality of mathematics teaching and curriculum. She now serves as Head of School at Dame Dorothy Primary School and Trust Lead for Maths.
Laura is committed to collaboration and professional development, working alongside colleagues across schools and the wider system to secure high-quality outcomes for all pupils. Her leadership is underpinned by a strong belief in consistency, evidence-informed practice, and the importance of developing staff to achieve sustainable school improvement.
