Michael Laidler

Michael joined NLLT as of January 2023. He has been in education for the past 23 years and has a proven track record of transformational change across differing school settings. In his roles he has developed significant experience in Safeguarding, Leadership, Pastoral, Curriculum and Student Outcomes. He brings a strong and clear understanding about rigour, accountability, quality assurance and leadership to ensure maximum outcomes are achieved through value for money. Michael is extremely passionate about every child receiving an outstanding education.

Since September 2017, Michael has been Head Teacher at Acklam Grange School. The school was previously designated as a ‘Teaching School’ and at the same time converted to an Academy and co-founded ‘The Legacy Learning Trust’ MAT of which Michael is now the Deputy CEO leading on secondary school improvement. The school continues to be successful, ranking in the top quintile for attainment and progress over the past six academic years. He is also currently a member of the Middlesbrough Safeguarding Children Board, Secondary Schools Steering Group, member of Middlesbrough Schools Management Forum, Governor at Middlesbrough College and Middlesbrough’s Secondary Heads Group, and works as an advisor and associate for PiXL.

Michael presents on a local and regional level supporting other school leaders in the area of School Leadership at all Levels, Raising Achievement Strategies, Pupil Premium and School Improvement.
