St Helen’s among pilot breakfast school clubs
Hartlepool’s St Helen’s Primary School is among the pilot schools to have introduced the government’s free breakfast club pilot scheme and has been welcomed by Headteacher Marcus Newing.
“We wholeheartedly welcome the new scheme providing free breakfast to all pupils – it will ensure that every child starts the day with a nutritious meal,” he said.
“It supports overall pupil well-being and will boost concentration.”
Mr Newing said that St Helen’s, part of Northern Lights Learning Trust which comprises ten primary and secondary schools across Teesside and the Wear Vallery, hoped the scheme would bring key benefits to both children and families.
“Over the coming weeks and months, we’re hopeful this initiative will lead to noticeable improvements in attendance, learning outcomes, and help ease the pressure on families during challenging times.”
Chief Executive of Northern Lights is Jo Heaton OBE. She said: “We are delighted to be supporting the initiative to offer the best start to the day for our pupils at St Helen’s Primary School.
“We look forward to sharing our experience with the government on the pilot scheme, to ensure it can provide the best offer for when it is rolled out nationally.”
