Standards Committee

The Standards Committee is made up of Trustees of the Trust. The Directors of Primary & Secondary Education & Trust Lead for Attendance, Safeguarding & Behaviour will be in attendance to present information. Any other Education Team members will attend meetings as required to present information to the Committee. The quorum of the Committee is 3 Trustees.

The focus of the committee is school improvement and will encompass curriculum, teaching and learning, standards and pupil outcomes and all related matters to the smooth running of the academies, both primary, secondary and Additionally Resourced Provision within NLLT. It will also review safeguarding, behaviour and attendance and its impact on pupil outcomes. There will be a continued focus on SEND & inclusion across all schools. The aim is to raise achievement across all schools within the Trust and to ensure that all schools are acting in line with the inclusive vision of the Trust.

The committee will:

  • monitor pupils’ attainment across all Northern Lights Learning Trust’s schools and monitor the quality of learning;
  • ensure the curriculum offer is relevant and appropriate for all pupils;
  • ensure that a broad and balanced curriculum is in place across the Trust schools that helps protect pupils against extremism and promotes community cohesion in the communities they serve;
  • advise the MAT Board on curriculum statutory obligations;
  • contribute towards the review, revision and monitoring of the Trust Education & Safeguarding Strategic Plans;
  • monitor attendance, behaviour and safeguarding;
  • report to the MAT board on assurances on the outcomes and provide recommendations to the board as necessary;
  • undertake any delegated tasks as directed by the MAT board.
